CHP's Yavuzyılmaz: "I am sharing documents that could lead to President Erdoğan being tried at the Supreme Tribunal"

CHP Deputy Chair and Zonguldak MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz announced on social media platform X that he was releasing "documents that could lead to AKP leader and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan being tried at the Supreme Tribunal," in a post that drew widespread attention.

According to Yavuzyılmaz's post, Turkey was penalised by an International Arbitration Court for transporting oil and loading it at Ceyhan without the authorisation of the Iraqi Central Government, under an oil transportation agreement Turkey concluded with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq (KRG) between 2014 and 2023.

In his statement, which he based on a ruling dated 13 February 2023, CHP's Yavuzyılmaz stated that the net penalty awarded against Turkey in the arbitration case amounted to 1 billion 471 million 390 thousand 486 dollars. He emphasised that this figure corresponds to approximately 60 billion TL at the current exchange rate.

Yavuzyılmaz's post reads as follows:

"I am sharing documents that could lead to President Erdoğan being tried at the Supreme Tribunal!

We have obtained the concealed file of the International Arbitration Court.

Between 2014 and 2023;

The AK Party was penalised in arbitration because Turkey transported oil through the Turkey–Iraq crude oil pipeline (by agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq) and loaded Iraqi oil at Ceyhan without the approval of the Iraqi Central Government.

The ruling is final!

The scale of the damage the AK Party has inflicted on Turkey is staggering. Interest is being added to this penalty with every passing day.

Net penalty amount: $1,471,390,486

1 Billion 471 Million Dollars!

60 Billion Lira at the current exchange rate!

These arbitration documents cannot be destroyed, this file cannot be closed. And this file is only the first brick in the wall.

Today, tomorrow, or at some future date, this matter and its background is a Supreme Tribunal issue!
