CHP's Yavuzyılmaz: This is how the ground was prepared for the disaster in Bolu! That provision was removed by presidential decree...

As the debate over responsibility continues following the hotel disaster in Bolu that claimed 78 lives, CHP Deputy Chairman and Zonguldak MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz stated that amendments to the Regulation on the Qualifications of Tourism Facilities paved the way for fire disasters. Yavuzyılmaz asked, "Why did you cancel the provision regarding informing guests about the emergency action plan?"

78 citizens lost their lives in a fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel located at the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center.

While 12 people have been detained as part of the investigation into the disaster, a debate over 'responsibility' has begun between the government and the opposition.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman and Zonguldak MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz made striking statements regarding the disaster in Kartalkaya in a post on his social media account.

Stating that the massacre was facilitated by the amendment made to the tourism facilities regulation, CHP's Yavuzyılmaz asked, "Why did you cancel the provision regarding informing guests about the emergency action plan?"

Yavuzyılmaz used the following expressions:

"How was the ground prepared for the scale of the fire disaster in Kartalkaya to increase? Exactly 1 month before the disaster, a vital change was made to the Regulation on the Qualifications of Tourism Facilities by Presidential Decree. The provision in the regulation: 'Guests shall be informed about the emergency action plan' was repealed by the President. For this reason, the President, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, and the hotel owners together left our citizens uninformed about the hotel's existing emergency action plan and helpless in the fire! I ask, why did you cancel this provision!"
