CHP's Salıcı reacts to the General Directorate of Foundations: 'It's not enough, they are never satisfied'

CHP Istanbul MP Oğuz Kaan Salıcı reacted to the recent decision to transfer the Basilica Cistern to the General Directorate of Foundations through a statement on his social media account.

Criticizing the transfer of important historical monuments belonging to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and Istanbul one by one to the General Directorate of Foundations (VGM), CHP's Salıcı made striking remarks, saying, 'It's not enough, they are never satisfied.' 

Oğuz Kaan Salıcı expressed his reaction in his social media statement with the following words:

"Basilica Cistern…

Izmir Vocational Factory…

Galata Tower…

And many more…

Just like that...

They say, 'This is foundation property.'

They transfer it to the General Directorate of Foundations (VGM).

Which VGM?

ASFAT, a Ministry of National Defense company that produces our national warship MİLGEM, allocated land in Ankara Etimesgut to the VGM to build its headquarters.

What did the VGM do?

First, it built the building.

It nicely furnished a conference hall inside.

Then, it rented the conference hall to a former AKP deputy mayor of Pursaklar.

And it did so without a tender.

Now, luxury weddings are held there, and invitations are hosted.

The VGM is helping another crony make a fortune.

General Director of Foundations Sinan Aksu says, 'The restorations and charitable works of the foundations also put our minds at ease.'

Of course it puts them at ease!

If the firms that will win the tenders held through bargaining procedures for the repair of foundation properties damaged in the earthquake are already known…

If a 10% commission of the tender price is transferred to addresses indicated by the authorities, of course the gentleman's mind would be at ease.

So, who is the VGM affiliated with?

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

In other words, whose shoulders does the political responsibility rest on?

Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy’s.

Ersoy, who handed over treasury land in Antalya Kundu to his own company to build a hotel…

Ersoy, who turned a blind eye to a fake letter of guarantee in a public tender…

Ersoy, who passed the reconstruction work of the Antalya Archaeology Museum, which was decided to be demolished due to earthquake risk, to the architect of his hotels…

Ersoy, who revived his brother-in-law Mehmet Uğur Esin’s company, Dem Müzecilik, in Hagia Sophia and Ephesus under the guise of museum activities…

It's not enough, they are never satisfied.

Soon they will give the Hierapolis Ancient City in Pamukkale to the brother-in-law too.

So, who was given the lighting work for the Galata Tower, which was seized by the VGM while it belonged to the İBB?

You guessed it.

To Minister Ersoy’s brother-in-law’s other company, Astel. 

Is it just the Galata Tower?

The Maiden's Tower, Atatürk Cultural Center, Basilica Cistern (Şerefiye), Göbeklitepe, Zelve Open Air Museum, and Polatlı Gordion Museum projects are also his.

Museum management is with the brother-in-law, lighting is with the brother-in-law, imaging systems are with the brother-in-law.

Mr. Brother-in-Law is everywhere; from Trabzon to Bursa, from Konya to Adana, from Kütahya to Mersin.

This is the mentality.

Does this sit well with you?

Then they turn around and say…

'There should be no corruption in municipalities.'

True. There shouldn't be.

Not just in municipalities, there shouldn't be any anywhere. 

Corruption;

Happens in the central government,

Happens in ministries,

Happens in foundations,

Happens in public tenders,

Happens in public lands,

Happens in the operation of cultural heritage…

So, let us ask then:

Is morality only necessary for municipalities?

The center is the backbone of the state.

Local government is the state's eyes, ears, and hands in that city.

Unfortunately, the first button of the shirt has been buttoned wrong.

Let us not forget, a fish rots from the head…"
