CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel: 'Trying to block İmamoğlu is a sign of weakness'

CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel made a statement on his social media regarding the detention of Union of Municipalities of Türkiye President and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

In his post on his X account, Yücel stated the following:

“They have become so blinded that they would call Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu a leader of a criminal organization.

The country has completely lost its way…

What is happening here is an attempted coup against the country's next president. 

They are trying to block the path for the will of the nation to manifest.

A blow has been dealt to law and democracy.

Trying to block Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu with familiar scenarios and known slanders is a sign of weakness.

Even if they write the book on injustice and lawlessness, the people's will shall prevail.

Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation!”
