CHP Spokesperson Yücel evaluates investigations into Muharrem İnce and İmamoğlu

Yücel, at a press conference held regarding the agenda of the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting chaired by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel at the party headquarters, wished God's mercy upon those who lost their lives in the hotel fire in Bolu Kartalkaya and a speedy recovery to the injured.

Emphasizing that the party's stance on the fire tragedy is to uncover the causes of the incident and to identify and bring to justice those who have fault or negligence in order to prevent such events from happening again, Yücel stated that every act of negligence that goes unpunished leads to new instances of negligence.

Yücel claimed that Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan was being targeted to hide the real culprits of the fire, stating, "In the report whose conclusion regarding those found responsible and at fault was shared with the public by our Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel, it was determined that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Bolu Provincial Special Administration, the Bolu Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization, the hotel management, the architects and engineers responsible for fire systems and renovations, and the building inspection and management officials in charge of maintenance, repair, and supervision are 'responsible'."

Criticizing Minister Ersoy's statements regarding the incident, Yücel said, "The Provincial Special Administration, which the Minister pointed to, that is, a public institution affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, refuted the Minister of Tourism by saying, 'The Provincial Special Administration has neither the duty nor the organization for such inspections. This is a tourism-certified business. Everything is in the regulation.' Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, sitting in that seat for even one more day will hurt the conscience of our 85 million citizens and the bones of the 78 souls we lost."

Yücel made the following assessments regarding the investigation launched against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on the grounds that he targeted an expert witness involved in investigations and lawsuits:

"What is this? Mr. İmamoğlu allegedly targeted a public official and attempted to influence judicial authorities. The press conference held by Mr. İmamoğlu today is nothing more than the public exposure, with documents, of the conspiracies, traps, and unlawful operations carried out or intended to be carried out against CHP municipalities. To extract a crime or criminal element from his statement today is, beyond reading intentions or forcing the issue, a fabrication of crime."

When asked about the claims that Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce would join the CHP, Yücel noted that İnce had previously held important positions in the party and stated, "He can always meet with our Chairman and our party officials. If there is any development on this matter, our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, will share the necessary statement with the public."
