CHP to organize 'Youth March' on May 19

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel will also participate in the youth march to be held in the capital as part of the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. The event will take place from Güvenpark to Anıtkabir.

The Republican People's Party (CHP) Ankara Provincial Presidency is preparing to celebrate the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day with a special event again this year. The "Youth March," which will be held to mark the 107th anniversary of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's arrival in Samsun, will begin at 14:00 on May 19.

The march, which has Güvenpark as its starting point, will conclude at Anıtkabir. In addition to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, members of the party's Central Executive Board (MYK), deputies, Party Assembly members, and provincial organization members will participate in the event.

The march is expected to see high participation from young people and citizens, especially on this day that commemorates Atatürk's lighting of the torch of independence and the beginning of the national struggle.

CHP Ankara Acting Provincial President Yüksel Işık made the following remarks regarding the march:

“On May 19, 1919, the torch of independence lit by our Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Samsun carries a meaning beyond being the beginning of a war of liberation. As explained in the Amasya Circular, which went down in history as the ‘manifesto of the Anatolian revolution,’ this meaning signifies the declaration of our nation's future based on freedom, democracy, and the will of the people.

''OUR MOTTO IS AN INDEPENDENT TURKEY''

For us, May 19 also means courage in the face of despair, the national will in the face of oppression, and independence in the face of surrender. We will march together to sing our song of independence against those who collaborated with imperialism back then and those who follow in Trump's footsteps today.

Throughout our march, we will protest the pressures on the fundamental values of our Republic, democracy, and the free will of the people. Under the leadership of our Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel, we will continue our struggle until we make Turkey fully independent. Our motto throughout the march will be a fully independent Turkey.”
