CHP's ordeal with automobiles: How much will the party have to pay because of that license plate?

It was noted that the license plate of a shuttle-type vehicle heading to the "We Cannot Make Ends Meet" rally, which will be held today in the Gebze district of Kocaeli with the participation of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, was not visible and instead read "CHP". 

The "We Cannot Make Ends Meet" rally, which will be organized with broad participation including CHP provincial and district organizations and party members, will be held in the Gebze district of Kocaeli.

While it was observed that the vehicle heading to the rally was full, it was noted that there was no license plate anywhere on the vehicle and it only had a "CHP" plate. 

FINES FOR VEHICLES WITH ILLEGIBLE LICENSE PLATES

In accordance with Article 23/3-c-1 of the Highway Traffic Law; "Drivers preventing the clear display of the vehicle's license plate for various reasons" falls under the scope of penalties. The law stipulates a fine of 2,648 TL for 2024 for obstructing the readability of a license plate. 

THE VEHICLE WITH FLASHING LIGHTS INCIDENT

In recent days, CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu speaking with a citizen in front of his vehicle equipped with flashing lights, and then getting into his vehicle with flashing lights to leave, had become a subject of criticism. 

The CHP İzmir Provincial Presidency, in a statement to 12punto, said, "It is a legal vehicle with flashing lights. It is a vehicle registered in traffic. Since the incident was about workers returning to their jobs, we never got into that agenda. The agenda for us was the workers. We think that everyone who gets into a vehicle with flashing lights should do so, but they should solve the poverty of the people and hire the workers who have become unemployed," they stated.
