Citizens mobilize to find finger severed in motorcycle accident in Mersin

In the Erdemli district of Mersin, citizens mobilized to find the finger of a motorcycle driver that was severed during an accident. Following a 20-minute search, the finger was found and handed over to medical teams, who then transported it to the hospital along with the injured individuals for treatment.

The accident occurred in the Akdeniz neighborhood of the district, on the Mersin-bound side of the Mersin-Antalya D-400 highway, which was closed due to construction work. The motorcycle with license plate 01 ATV 355, driven by E.C. (52), struck a pallet of paving stones and curbs being used for road work while in motion. As a result of the impact, the driver E.C. and the passenger, identified as Ö.Ş. (64), were injured.

Upon notification of the accident to the 112 Emergency Call Center, ambulance and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Citizens who noticed that the driver's finger had been severed in the accident mobilized to find it.

Minutes later, the finger was found between another pallet of curb stones and handed over to the medical team that had arrived at the scene. After receiving initial treatment, the injured were taken to the hospital along with the severed finger.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
