The Ministry of Interior has once again approved the opening of an investigation into Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and a total of 11 municipal officials.

According to a report by the pro-government newspaper Sabah, the investigation in question was initiated on the grounds of approximately 40 million TL in public loss and the provision of unfair benefits in that amount.

It is alleged that the investigation concerns the tender for the "Alternative Road Project Art Structures Construction Work" organized for Ankara's Etimesgut Station Street.

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) issued a written statement regarding the claims that an investigation had been launched into Mansur Yavaş and municipal bureaucrats.

The statement noted that there has been no official notification or notice received by the municipality regarding the news in question.

RESPONSE FROM ABB TO THE ALLEGATIONS

The statement made by the municipality included the following:

"According to reports in the partisan press, information has been provided that an investigation has been opened into Ankara Metropolitan Municipality bureaucrats and Mansur Yavaş. However, there is no official notification made to us regarding the matter. The process mentioned in the news is not new. The relevant file is a file where the technical and legal process, which has been ongoing since 2022, is still in the arbitration stage. Therefore, there is no finalized court decision, nor is there a final judgment regarding public loss.

Presenting an ongoing process as if it were concluded and finalized is a clear attempt to create a perception aimed at misleading the public. If any document or letter regarding the subject reaches us, the public will be informed in a transparent manner."

INVESTIGATION PERMIT HAD BEEN GRANTED PREVIOUSLY

On the other hand, the Ministry of Interior had previously granted an investigation permit regarding Mansur Yavaş on the allegation that "vehicles belonging to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality were used at the Karabük rally held during the general elections in May 2023."
