Claim stirring up the lobbies: A striking proposal from Serap Yazıcı Özbudun to Erdoğan

It has been alleged that Antalya MP Serap Yazıcı Özbudun, who was elected from the Future Party quota on the CHP list and transferred to the AKP hours after resigning from her party, told AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a meeting: "If we could find a way to return to the parliamentary system. If we could add a temporary article to the Constitution and you remained president for life."

Kısa Dalga columnist Sedat Bozkurt has put forward a striking claim regarding Antalya MP Serap Yazıcı Özbudun, who headed to the AKP after resigning from the Future Party.

Stating that the Turkish Democracy Foundation, in which Özbudun also serves on the board, visited AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Palace, Bozkurt carried what Özbudun said to Erdoğan during the visit to his column.

"WE WILL TALK ABOUT THESE LATER"

Bozkurt claimed that Özbudun said, "I have defended the parliamentary system from the very beginning, and I am at the same point today. If we could find a way to return to the parliamentary system. If we could add a temporary article to the Constitution and you remained president for life." It was alleged that Erdoğan responded to Yazıcı by saying, "We will talk about these later."

ENTERED PARLIAMENT FROM CHP LISTS, RESIGNED FROM FUTURE PARTY AND JOINED AKP

Özbudun was elected as a Future Party MP from the CHP lists in the 2023 general elections. Resigning from the Future Party in 2025, Özbudun transferred to the AKP.

Yazıcı, who is the wife of the late constitutional law expert Prof. Dr. Ergun Özbudun, who passed away in 2023, also served on the academic team that prepared the first civilian constitution draft commissioned by President Erdoğan in 2007.
