In the new reconciliation process, which was architected by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey' by the government, the DEM Party İmralı Delegation recently visited the Presidential Palace and held a meeting with AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Following this meeting, the delegation was set to meet with Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç regarding legal regulations, but the meeting was postponed due to the health condition of Sırrı Süreyya Önder.
MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli brought up the 'right to hope' for PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan in his speech on October 15, 2024, while the DEM Party had requested improvements to terrorist leader Öcalan's conditions following the call for disarmament and dissolution on February 27.
While debates regarding the new reconciliation process continue, a striking claim has been put forward.
According to a report by Özgür Cebe from Sözcü, it is alleged that the 76-year-old terrorist leader Öcalan does not want to leave İmralı due to 'security conditions' and 'certain sensitivities.' It was claimed that after obtaining the 'right to hope,' Apo wants to spend the rest of his life in a 3+1 house to be built on the island, and has requested a study room and library of his own, along with all kinds of communication tools, primarily internet access.
It was also alleged that the government, which views this request favorably, is conducting a feasibility study through the Ministry of Justice's General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses and the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs for the construction of a 3+1 residence on İmralı.
ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ HAD BROUGHT IT TO THE AGENDA
The claim that a house would be built on İmralı for PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan was brought to the agenda by Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, who is currently detained at Silivri Prison.
Özdağ stated that the new reconciliation process would begin with İmralı ceasing to be a prison and becoming Apo's 'home,' adding, "The island will no longer be Öcalan's prison; those who wish will be able to go to the island and visit him."
