Claims of a 'new peace process with DEM Party': 'Unless there is a change in the plan...'

Following the speech by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the fact that MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli shook hands with DEM Party deputies did not go unnoticed.

Regarding the handshake in question, Bahçeli said, "We are entering a new era. While we want peace in the world, we must ensure peace in our own country."
While discussions on a new constitution continue on the political agenda, Bahçeli's emphasis on "We are entering a new era" and "We must ensure peace" also drew attention.
Sözcü columnist Deniz Zeyrek, in his article today, emphasized that the government has serious moves to make regarding a constitutional amendment in the coming days and assessed that it is "trying to turn the arithmetic of the TBMM in its favor."
Zeyrek, in his article titled "The government sets the game, the main opposition harms itself!", assessed that "Devlet Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM Party members at the opening of the TBMM on October 1, 2024, and stating that he did this inspired by President Tayyip Erdoğan's opening speech, is the most important proof of this."
Zeyrek continued his article by stating, "Unless there is a change in the plan, a new 'peace' process could be initiated with the DEM Party. The DEM Party could also be included in this process based on the 'being a counterpart' justification it loves so much."
Zeyrek also answered the question "Would the MHP be in the same process as the DEM Party?" by saying, "The signal that it could be 'yes', as long as the first 4 articles are not touched, has been given by Bahçeli himself."

Criticizing the opposition, Zeyrek noted the following in his article:
"So, what is the main opposition doing while the government is setting up a new game that will affect the fate of Turkey?
As I stated in the title, it is constantly harming itself.
It cannot project an image of unity.
It is struggling with its own problems more than the problems of the citizens."
