Following the arrest of CHP presidential candidate and IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been held in Silivri Prison since March 23, Necati Özkan and Merdan Yanardağ have also been arrested as part of the espionage investigation.

After İmamoğlu was also arrested on espionage charges, calls for the appointment of a trustee to the IMM have begun to rise again in the pro-government media.

Pro-government journalist Cem Küçük, in his column in the Türkiye newspaper, cited certain statements from the investigation file and said, “These statements need to be explained. If the relationship between Hüseyin Gün and Ekrem İmamoğlu is proven and this constitutes espionage, then a serious crime has been committed. In that case, a trustee must be appointed to the IMM. For now, based on the data obtained, it looks like one will be appointed...”

“WOULDN'T IT HAVE BEEN BETTER IF A TRUSTEE HAD NOT BEEN APPOINTED TO TELE1?”

In his column, Cem Küçük also touched upon the appointment of a trustee to the TELE1 channel. Küçük used the following expressions regarding this matter:

“In the latest operation, a trustee was appointed to Tele1. I wonder, wouldn't it have been better if only Merdan Yanardağ were tried but no trustee was appointed to Tele1? Let what is necessary be done to those involved in crimes like Merdan Yanardağ. We are already giving the necessary responses to the black propaganda of those channels. Of course, if the channel is being operated with laundered money, then seizure is correct. We will understand the matter better when the indictment is released...”
