Closed-door meeting at the Palace for the 'state's secret constitution'! Smartwatches and mobile phones were not allowed inside

A "secret" meeting was held at the General Secretariat of the National Security Council, chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, regarding the update of the National Security Policy Document. Participants were not allowed to bring in mobile phones or smartwatches, and high-level security measures were implemented. The update of the book has reached its final stage.

Upon the instructions of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the General Secretariat of the National Security Council had taken action to update the National Security Policy Document.

KNOWN IN PUBLIC AS THE RED BOOK

To update the document, which is also known as the "Red Book" in the public eye due to its confidential nature, opinions began to be requested from ministries and relevant institutions in the first months of this year.

"SECRET" CLASSIFIED MEETING

Work was carried out within the scope of information collected from ministries and relevant institutions. A "secret" meeting was held at the General Secretariat of the National Security Council at the beginning of this month to complete the work.

MOBILE PHONES AND SMARTWATCHES WERE NOT ALLOWED

At the meeting chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, the planned regulations for the "Red Book" were discussed in detail. Following the meeting, where participants were not allowed to bring in mobile phones or smartwatches and security measures were at the highest level, the work on updating the book has reached its final stage.

Following these efforts, the matter is expected to be addressed at the first National Security Council meeting to be held under the chairmanship of President Erdoğan.

The National Security Policy Document, by its content, serves as a document that sets out the state's perceptions of internal and external threats point by point.

The document is updated at regular intervals at National Security Council meetings according to changes in threats.

LAST UPDATE WAS MADE IN 2019

The National Security Policy Document, which covers the principles regarding internal, external, and defense courses of action within the opinions determined by the National Security Council for the purpose of ensuring national security and achieving national goals, was last addressed at the National Security Council meeting held on September 30, 2019, under the chairmanship of President Erdoğan.

In the statement made after the meeting, the following expression was included regarding the subject: "The National Security Policy Document, prepared by evaluating in all its aspects the effects of developments in our country, our region, and the world on our national security, has been discussed and found appropriate."

On the other hand, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz made statements on this issue upon a question during the deliberations of the 2025 budget of the Presidency at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Describing the National Security Policy Document as a very comprehensive and high-quality document, Yılmaz said, "We will make this official with the decision of our National Security Council. It will likely be discussed and made official at the upcoming National Security Council, and it will guide the work to be done by our institutions. We expect our new National Security Policy Document to be implemented in 2025."
