CNN Türk reporter Merve Tokaz claimed she was targeted and received death threats due to her reporting on Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran, who was summoned to testify as part of a drug investigation.

In a drug investigation that began with famous singers and actors and subsequently extended to the media world, Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran gave a statement as a suspect.
After providing his statement, hair and blood samples were taken from Saran, and he was released under judicial control.
Following the developments regarding Saran being summoned to testify, CNN Türk reporter Merve Tokaz claimed in a statement on her social media account that she had received death threats.
Claiming that she was being targeted on social media, Tokaz stated, "As a young female journalist, I have covered dozens of stories about violence against women. However, this time I am experiencing violence against women myself. For about two days, I have been constantly targeted and receiving death threats. Regarding Mr. Sadettin Saran being summoned to testify by judicial authorities, all I did was convey the information I received from judicial authorities to the audience exactly as it is and in an impartial manner."
In the continuation of her statement, Tokaz included the following remarks:
"To those who want to create a perception about me by saying I am a Galatasaray fan; my profession is my honor. I am very saddened that among those targeting me are not only those who claim to be connected to the community but also senior journalists. If something happens to me, the perpetrators are clearly visible on social media. At this point, I trust in divine justice and the Turkish judiciary above all else. Respectfully..."
