Coastal Safety announces the reopening of suspended vessel traffic
The Bosphorus was closed to two-way traffic due to a mechanical failure of the Liberia-flagged fuel tanker named Peria during its passage. The Directorate General of Coastal Safety has announced that the strait will be reopened to vessel traffic.

The 250-meter-long fuel tanker named 'Peria', which was en route from Russia to İzmir, experienced a mechanical failure around 12:30 PM while passing through the Keçilik Bay area of the Bosphorus.
Due to the vessel's failure, the Bosphorus was closed to two-way traffic, and the disabled ship was towed to a safe area with the intervention of tugboats from the Directorate General of Coastal Safety.
REOPENING TO TRAFFIC
In a statement regarding the suspended vessel traffic, the Directorate General of Coastal Safety stated, "It is planned to reopen the Bosphorus to vessel traffic in the south-north direction at 8:00 PM, following its temporary suspension."
