Cocaine seized on ship departing from Istanbul

The French Navy conducted a major operation in international waters near the island of Martinique off the coast of South America against a ship that had departed from Istanbul. During searches conducted on the ship named "Haliç-Equality," 9 tons of cocaine were seized. It was stated that the market value of the narcotics exceeds 3 billion dollars.

The ship, which belongs to a Turkish shipowner identified by the initials H.B.T. and was described as being in scrap condition, had departed from Istanbul on November 12, 2024. According to security sources, the ship reached the West African country of Guinea-Bissau on December 10, 2024, and anchored there.

9 TONS OF COCAINE SEIZED  

The ship, which left Guinea-Bissau on December 13, was taken under surveillance by the French Navy while sailing toward the coast of South America. During the operation carried out off the coast of Martinique, it was determined that there were a total of 9 tons of cocaine in 250 packages in the ship's cargo hold.

With the intervention on the ship, the drug shipment was prevented, and the incident was recorded as a significant success in the fight against international drug trafficking.
