A brief argument that took place during the event held at Atatürk City Square for the seedling distribution drew attention. While Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu was also present during the event, the tension in the area became a topic of discussion among the participants.
TENSION IN THE AREA
In the later minutes of the ceremony, journalist Ümit Yeşildağ asked Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, "They were saying you couldn't go out on the streets, yet you are out on the streets." Following Çerçioğlu's remarks, AKP Aydın Provincial Chair Mehmet Erdem took the floor, targeted the Republican People's Party (CHP), and stated, "After the situations in Uşak and Antalya came to light, I wonder how they can go out on the streets? With what face?"
In response to Erdem's outburst, journalist Ümit Yeşildağ made a reference to the Köşk Municipality, reacting by saying, "If you can go out, then anyone can, Mr. Chair." The dialogue between the two caused a brief moment of tension at the event.
ALLEGATIONS REGARDING KÖŞK MUNICIPALITY REFLECTED ON THE EVENT
It was observed that developments in the Köşk district of Aydın were influential in the background of the tension. It was noted that recently, due to allegations brought to the agenda regarding Köşk District Mayor Nuri Güler, he was referred to the AKP Central Disciplinary Board with a request for permanent expulsion and a precautionary measure. Following the allegations in question, it was reported that Nuri Güler resigned from the party.
These developments were at the center of the discussions at the seedling distribution event. The program flow of the event was disrupted for a while due to these polemics, but the distribution continued afterward.
