Collapse at construction site in Çekmeköy: Tragic news

One of two workers was rescued while the other lost his life in a collapse at a construction site in Istanbul's Çekmeköy district. The Çekmeköy District Governorate issued a written statement regarding the incident.

A collapse occurred at a construction site in the Reşadiye neighborhood of Çekmeköy. Two workers were trapped. Fire and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Worker Cafer Tülek was rescued by fire crews and handed over to medical teams, while Yasin Tülek lost his life.

STATEMENT FROM THE DISTRICT GOVERNORATE

A written statement was issued by the Çekmeköy District Governorate. The statement said, "On Monday, May 12, 2025, at approximately 13:30, a landslide occurred during sewage work at a construction site located on Esençile Street in the Reşadiye neighborhood of Çekmeköy district. As a result of the landslide, 2 workers operating in the area were trapped under the soil, and fire, AFAD, and medical teams were dispatched to the region. As a result of search and rescue efforts, a worker named Cafer Tülek was extracted from under the soil with his consciousness intact and was taken to the hospital by medical teams. Rescue efforts for the other worker trapped under the soil are ongoing."
