The independent investigative committee announced by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) leader Abu Mohammad al-Julani (Ahmed al-Shara), who has roots in Al-Qaeda, regarding the "events" that occurred in Latakia on March 6-7, has also been approved by the Syrian Presidency.
INDEPENDENT COMMITTEE APPOINTED
According to a statement from the Syrian Presidency, an independent investigative committee consisting of seven members has been established to examine all aspects of the events in Latakia and to identify those responsible. The committee will investigate the root causes of the events, their progression, and any violations against civilians. Furthermore, attacks against public institutions, security forces, and the military are also expected to be examined.
The investigative committee will be able to receive support from experts in the field when necessary. All state institutions in Syria have been mandated to fully cooperate with the committee. This is seen as a critical step to ensure that all dimensions of the events are uncovered accurately and quickly.
COMPREHENSIVE REPORT TO BE SUBMITTED WITHIN 30 DAYS
