Communication shipments in Turkey peaked in 2024
Communication shipments transported in Turkey reached 269.4 million in 2024, setting a record. While employment in the postal sector exceeded 122 thousand, the highest shipment traffic occurred in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu evaluated the Turkey Postal Sector Market Data Report for the second half of 2024, prepared by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK). Minister Uraloğlu stated that communication shipments in Turkey reached 269.37 million by the end of 2024.
AUTHORIZATION AND EMPLOYMENT IN THE POSTAL SECTOR
Minister Uraloğlu announced that the number of authorized service providers in the postal sector is 52, with a total of 62 authorizations granted. Of these authorizations, 25 were at the national level and 37 were at the local level. While Istanbul ranked first with 24 local authorization certificates, Izmir received 5 and Ankara received 4. There are 10 thousand 992 postal agencies and branches serving across Turkey. Of these agencies, 1 thousand 955 are located in Istanbul, 753 in Ankara, and 576 in Izmir. The postal sector provides employment for more than 122 thousand people.
SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN COMMUNICATION SHIPMENTS
In the second half of 2024, communication shipments in Turkey amounted to 136.56 million. The share of intercity shipments within all communication shipments was 86.1 percent. The provinces with the highest number of communication shipment deliveries were determined to be Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, and Antalya, respectively.
