Communications Director Duran: Access bans imposed on 2,034 social media accounts

In a post on his social media account, Communications Director Duran stated, "The comprehensive digital monitoring, technical analysis, and inter-institutional coordination efforts carried out under the coordination of our Presidency's Directorate of Communications continue uninterrupted and in coordination with all our relevant institutions.

Turkey continues its fight against terror propaganda, provocation, disinformation, and psychological warfare attempts conducted through digital channels with determination, by mobilizing all the capabilities and resources of our state.

In this context, over the last two months, under the coordination of our Presidency's Directorate of Communications; as a result of the joint efforts of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices and the General Directorate of Security's Cybercrime Combat Department, access ban measures were immediately implemented for 699 social media accounts identified as being linked to terrorist and criminal organizations that target our national security and social unity, primarily those affiliated with FETÖ," he said.

Duran stated, "Through comprehensive technical examinations and digital network analyses, necessary legal and administrative procedures have been established for 1,335 social media accounts determined to be generating provocations, targeting our brotherhood and social peace, spreading disinformation, and conducting psychological warfare activities against our country, with the coordination of our relevant institutions, primarily our Ministries of Justice and Interior, and decisions to block access to these accounts have been implemented.

In this process, access bans were imposed on a total of 2,034 social media accounts. The work carried out clearly reveals one fact; terrorist organizations are now operating not only in the field but also on digital platforms in an organized, coordinated, and systematic manner.

Social media and digital channels are being used as a tool targeting social peace, our national unity, and public order through propaganda, manipulation, perception operations, and disinformation," he said.

Emphasizing that disinformation will not be tolerated, Duran said, "Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey continues its fight against terrorism with the same determination in the field, across borders, and in the digital sphere. For our state, digital security is an inseparable part of national security.

Terrorist organizations will absolutely not be allowed to use social media and digital platforms for propaganda, recruitment, financing, disinformation, and psychological warfare.

As the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, we will continue to monitor the digital ecosystem instantly and multidimensionally together with all our relevant institutions; we will continue to identify all kinds of threats targeting our national security, social peace, and unity and solidarity, and implement the necessary measures without delay.

We will continue our struggle with the same determination to protect our citizens from the information pollution created by disinformation, to bring them together with accurate and reliable information, and to prevent digital channels from being turned into a propaganda field by terrorist organizations. The digital space is not ownerless. Turkey will not allow any digital operation that targets its national security," he said.
