In his social media post, Duran stated that the May 27, 1960 coup occupies a place in Turkish political history as a dark intervention against the national will, and noted the following:

"The execution of the late Prime Minister Adnan Menderes, Foreign Minister Fatin Rüştü Zorlu, and Finance Minister Hasan Polatkan has left deep marks in the memory and hearts of our nation.

During this process, democracy was suspended, and law and politics were placed under heavy pressure.

Today, Turkey, under the leadership of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, strongly demonstrates that there can be no power above the national will.

As we march toward a stronger and more democratic future with the Century of Turkey vision, we also resolutely reject every kind of intervention against the national will.

With these sentiments, I commemorate the late Prime Minister Menderes, Mr. Zorlu, and Mr. Polatkan with mercy and prayers, and I condemn all forms of coups."
