Communications Directorate denies the claim

The Presidential Communications Directorate's Center for Combating Disinformation stated that the claim shared on some social media accounts, alleging that "corpses were transported in bags in the back of a truck in İskenderun, Hatay, following the February 6 earthquake," is not true.

Social media posts claimed that the bodies of those who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquakes were being transported in a truck.

'BODY BAG' CLAIM

The Presidential Communications Directorate's Center for Combating Disinformation stated in a post on its X account that the truck seen in the video in question was not carrying "body bags" as claimed, but rather camping tents sent to the earthquake zone through donations from non-governmental organizations and donors from both within the country and abroad during the earthquake period.

The statement, which reported that the footage in question was determined to have been recorded not in İskenderun, but at a gas station on Atatürk Street in the Samandağ district, included the following: "The claim shared on some social media accounts that 'corpses were transported in bags in the back of a truck in İskenderun, Hatay, following the February 6 earthquake' is not true. The bodies of all our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake, which also affected Samandağ, were delivered to their families and relatives, and burial procedures were carried out."
