Company accused of data breach awarded for data security at Teknofest: Won a bronze medal

It has emerged that the company, whose executives were detained in a espionage investigation conducted within the scope of the IMM investigation, received an award at Teknofest for its data security work.

Within the scope of the IMM investigation, 15 people were detained on allegations that the 'İstanbul Senin' application leaked data and that the personal data of millions of people were provided to two different countries.

Among those detained are executives and staff of the company that developed the application. It has emerged that the company recently received an award from Teknofest in the field of data security.

ESPIONAGE INVESTIGATION

It is alleged that data belonging to 4.7 million people was transferred to two different countries via the application. Furthermore, it was claimed that ballot box data belonging to 11 million voters was leaked from another application connected to the same system, called 'İBB Hanem'.

Within the scope of the investigation, executives and employees of Kobil Teknoloji AŞ, the developer of the application, were detained. Some of the names detained in the Istanbul-based operation were announced as follows:

Kobil Teknoloji AŞ Chairman of the Board İsmet Koyun, Kobil MyCity Platform Teknoloji AŞ software development specialist Abdullah Uygun, Software Manager Ayhan Güvenli, Adem Ok, Iraz Bayrak, İdris Yıldırım, Mehmet Çağlar Kuru, Emrah Yüksel, Hüsnücan Şen, Elif Yıldız Kızılca, Esra Huri Bulduk, Nuri Cem Ceylan, Şehide Zehra Keleş Yüksel.

Authorities stated that the investigation is being conducted independently of the initial data breach file and that technical examinations are ongoing.

TEKNOFEST AWARDED

Kobil Teknoloji AŞ, which has come to the fore with data breach allegations, is also known for its achievements in the fields of technology and software. The company was entitled to receive a Bronze medal for the projects it developed at the Turkish Patent ISIF’25 International Invention Fair, held within the scope of Teknofest 2025.
