Competition Authority investigates 17 companies in the tire sector

The Competition Authority has decided to launch an investigation into 17 companies operating in the production and distribution of tires in the automotive sector. The investigation will examine whether these companies have engaged in activities that restrict competition.

According to the announcement on the Competition Authority's website, a preliminary investigation has been concluded regarding enterprises operating in the field of tire production and distribution. The investigation was initiated following allegations that these companies violated the Law on the Protection of Competition through practices such as the exchange of competitively sensitive information between competitors, anti-competitive agreements, resale price maintenance, territorial and customer allocation among dealers, the formation of exclusivity agreements, and the imposition of non-compete obligations on dealers.

FINDINGS DEEMED SERIOUS AND SUFFICIENT

The Board, having deliberated on the information, documents, and findings obtained during the preliminary investigation, deemed the evidence to be serious and sufficient.

The 17 enterprises in question operate as manufacturers, distributors, and dealers in the automotive tire sector.


On the other hand, the investigation decisions taken by the Board do not mean that the enterprises or associations of enterprises under investigation have violated the law and are facing or will face sanctions.
