Constitutional Court decides to file criminal complaints against officials of 2 political parties

The Constitutional Court's financial audit decisions regarding certain political parties have been published in the Official Gazette.

Accordingly, the Turkey Economy and Development Party (Türkiye Ekonomi ve Kalkınma Partisi) and the Justice Union Party (Adalet Birlik Partisi) did not submit the final account statements for certain provinces, which appear active in the Court of Cassation Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's political party organization list, to the High Court in their 2020 final account files.

The Constitutional Court accepted "the failure to provide information as requested, the failure to establish a record and document system in an accountable manner, and the making of income and expenditures outside of the accounts" as actions aimed at obstructing examination and investigation.

The High Court unanimously decided to file a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for legal action to be taken against the officials of these parties in accordance with the Law on Political Parties No. 2820.
