Constitutional Court files criminal complaint against 5 political parties

The Constitutional Court has filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding 5 political parties it subjected to financial audits.

According to the announcement published in the Official Gazette, the Constitutional Court examined the final accounts of the Yükseliş Party, Devlet Party, Turan Movement Party, Development and Democracy Party, and Uyanış Party for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022.

The court unanimously decided that it was not possible to accept the 2021 accounts of the Yükseliş Party and the Development and Democracy Party, the 2022 accounts of the Devlet Party, the 2020 and 2021 accounts of the Turan Movement Party, and the 2021 and 2022 accounts of the Uyanış Party.

The Constitutional Court ruled to file a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for legal action against the 5 political parties in question due to "failure to establish a record and document system in an accountable manner," "realizing income and expenses outside of the accounts," and "actions aimed at obstructing examination and investigation."

The court also requested that the Ankara Governor's Office initiate legal proceedings against the Devlet Party, Uyanış Party, Turan Movement Party, and Development and Democracy Party, which failed to provide the requested documents on time.
