Constitutional Court to review regulation affecting millions of drivers
The 180,000 lira fine and 60-day traffic ban imposed on drivers who follow other vehicles with the intent to attack or who exit their vehicles to intervene in traffic have been brought to the Constitutional Court's agenda. The High Court will address the annulment request at its meeting on June 25.

The regulation increasing sanctions for aggressive behavior in traffic has come before the Constitutional Court. The Bodrum 2nd Criminal Judgeship of Peace filed an annulment application on the grounds that certain provisions were unconstitutional within the scope of a case it was hearing.
The judgeship applied to the Constitutional Court with a request for the annulment and stay of execution of certain articles of Law No. 7574, which amends the Highway Traffic Law and increases penalties.
180,000 LIRA FINE AND TRAFFIC BAN BECOME A SUBJECT OF DEBATE
The application requested the annulment of the 180,000 lira administrative fine imposed on drivers who persistently follow another vehicle with the intent to attack or who exit their vehicle for this purpose.
Furthermore, it was argued that the regulation allowing for the vehicles of such drivers to be banned from traffic for 60 days is unconstitutional, and its annulment was requested.
INITIAL EVALUATION TO BE HELD ON JUNE 25
The Constitutional Court will address the application at its agenda meeting to be held on June 25. If there are no deficiencies in the application, the annulment request will be discussed on its merits and decided upon at a date to be determined later.
