Controversial minimum wage statement from MÜSİAD

'AN INCREASE ABOVE 25 PERCENT IS NOT RIGHT'

MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı, in a statement made on Bloomberg HT, argued that an increase of over 25 percent in the minimum wage could harm economic targets. Stating, "In my opinion, a raise exceeding this rate is not right," Asmalı also noted that the business world is uncomfortable with high interest rates.

'WE NEED A NEW GROWTH STORY'

Asmalı emphasized that Turkey should adopt an export-oriented growth model through economic reforms. "The exchange rate should support exports rather than encouraging imports. We must continue production while maintaining our competitive power," he said.
