İYİ Party MP Turhan Çömez has brought the memory of martyr Special Operations Police Officer Taner Cinpolat to the agenda following footage he stated was recorded in Şırnak.
In a post on his social media account, Çömez recalled that Cinpolat was martyred in a PKK attack in Cizre in 2016 and reacted to the incident, which he stated took place in front of an armored vehicle bearing the martyr's name.
According to Çömez's post, the footage shows a group celebrating a football match victory chanting slogans near an armored vehicle with the name 'Taner Cinpolat' on it.

Taner Cinpolat was one of the Special Operations police officers who was martyred during operations against the PKK in the Cizre district of Şırnak.
On January 31, 2016, Gendarmerie Staff Sergeant Ahmet Semerci and Special Operations police officers Ömer Güney and Taner Cinpolat were severely wounded in clashes in Cizre. All three security personnel lost their lives at the hospital where they were taken.
The funeral of 25-year-old Cinpolat was sent to his hometown of Gaziantep following a ceremony in Şırnak. The martyred police officer was laid to rest after a ceremony held at the Yeşilkent Cemetery. In addition to many citizens, military and civil officials also attended the funeral.

In 2016, the Şahinbey Municipality unanimously approved naming the Güneş Social Facility after the martyred police officer.
The martyr's name continues to live on in one of the social facilities in Gaziantep today. The name 'Martyr Taner Cinpolat Social Facility' continued to be used in announcements published by the Şahinbey Municipality in 2026.

In his post, Turhan Çömez drew attention to the incident he stated occurred in the footage after recalling Cinpolat's life and martyrdom.
Stating that Cinpolat was a Special Operations police officer from Gaziantep, that he was martyred in a PKK rocket attack in Cizre in January 2016, and that his name was given to various places in Gaziantep, Çömez then used the following expressions:
