Convention lawsuits in CHP moved to Ankara
The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance rejected the request to merge the lawsuit filed for the cancellation of the CHP's 21st and 22nd Extraordinary and 38th Ordinary Conventions with the Istanbul Provincial Congress case. The Istanbul 19th Civil Court of First Instance, meanwhile, referred the file to Ankara on the grounds of lack of jurisdiction.

A new lawsuit had been filed at the Istanbul 19th Civil Court of First Instance for the cancellation of the CHP's 38th Ordinary Convention and the 21st and 22nd Extraordinary Conventions, as well as for a precautionary suspension of the 39th Ordinary Convention process.
Özlem Erkan, a former Istanbul provincial delegate who filed the lawsuit, had previously gone to court for the cancellation of the CHP Istanbul 38th Ordinary Provincial Congress held on October 8, 2023, and the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance had issued an injunction against the provincial administration, removing the management from office.
Erkan requested that the newly filed lawsuit also be merged with the file at the 45th Civil Court of First Instance. However, the 45th Civil Court of First Instance rejected the request in question.
Following this, the file returned to the Istanbul 19th Civil Court of First Instance. The court issued a decision of lack of jurisdiction regarding the file, citing that the party's headquarters is located in Ankara and that the Ankara Civil Courts of First Instance are the proper venue for lawsuits filed against legal entities.
With the court's decision dated September 22, the convention cancellation lawsuits filed in Istanbul have been sent to Ankara due to lack of jurisdiction.

Çağlar Çağlayan made the following statements in his assessment to Halk TV:
"Last week, a new lawsuit was filed for the cancellation of our previously held Ordinary Convention and Extraordinary Convention, and to prevent our convention from being held. As you know, there is a court in Istanbul that issued an injunction. It was requested that the case be merged with that court. However, the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance rejected this merger, stating that the case it had was related to the Istanbul Provincial Congress, while the new file before it was related to the conventions in Ankara.
Upon this, the file returned to the 19th Civil Court of First Instance in Istanbul. We learned about the situation yesterday, communicated with the court, and made our applications. The Istanbul 19th Civil Court of First Instance sent the file to Ankara because the case is related to the convention and the headquarters is in Ankara. This is a normal development. It is a development that puts things back on track and brings the matter back to legal grounds."
