In the dual-leadership crisis that began in the Republican People's Party (CHP) with a "null and void" decision, the administration of elected Chairman Özgür Özel has launched its toughest legal retaliation against the purges by the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu team. Speaking to the press after a critical Central Executive Board (MYK) summit in Parliament, Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre announced that, as their demands for an extraordinary convention have been ignored by the headquarters, they will apply to the Civil Court of Peace as of tomorrow (Tuesday) to request the appointment of a 3-person "Call Committee" (trustee) to lead the party to a convention.

Zeynel Emre emphasized that they expect a lawful decision from the Court of Cassation before the judicial recess begins on July 20, while admitting that they will not remain spectators to the party being purged through a "Palace-backed conspiracy" and that they have put all alternative plans (including a new party) on the table against the risk of losing their eligibility to enter elections.

"THE SIGNATURE PERIOD HAS EXPIRED, WE ARE IN COURT TOMORROW"

Speaking at a press conference held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), Zeynel Emre stated that although they had collected the necessary delegate signatures for an extraordinary convention and notified the headquarters, the legal deadlines were being deliberately eroded by the Kılıçdaroğlu administration. Emre announced the details of the legal move with the following words:

"We have collected and notified the sufficient number of signatures for an extraordinary convention. Since we have seen that the legal period has passed since the notification, we are making our application to the Civil Court of Peace as of tomorrow. We will ask the court to form a 3-person call committee. This committee will serve only to hold the convention; it will not be able to make any expenditures other than salary payments, nor will it be able to engage in any political transactions."

JUDICIAL RECESS WARNING: "THE COURT OF CASSATION MUST SHOW THAT THE PULSE IS BEATING"

Arguing that it is essential for Turkey's election and judicial system that the decision be reached before the judicial recess on July 20, Emre made the following call to the Court of Cassation:

"It is essential that a lawful decision be made by the Court of Cassation as soon as possible, at least to show that Turkey is living as a state of law and that its pulse is beating."

Stating that they will not leave the public without options regardless of the decision, Emre noted that they are carrying out institutional preparations against the risk of the CHP losing its eligibility to enter elections due to bureaucratic obstacles.

"WE ARE NOT HELPLESS AGAINST THE NULL ADMINISTRATION COLLABORATING WITH THE PALACE"

Reacting sharply to the Kılıçdaroğlu team's plan to dismiss 43 provincial chairs and remove 20 more from office, the Party Spokesperson claimed that the pro-government media was also fueling this process:

"As the elected bodies of the CHP that are being conspired against, we are not helpless in an environment where provincial chairs are unfairly dismissed, our party is being purged, and media outlets that support the nullity in an organized manner in cooperation with the Palace are conducting propaganda. We have made our preparations for every possibility."
