COP29 Summit begins with family photo: Erdoğan, Aliyev, and Guterres pose together

Leaders gathered for a family photo ahead of the summit hosted by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the capital, Baku.
President Erdoğan, who arrived with his wife Emine Erdoğan, was welcomed by Aliyev and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the venue set up for the summit next to the Baku Olympic Stadium.
In addition to Erdoğan, Aliyev, and Guterres, the family photo included leaders such as British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
During the photo session, Azerbaijani President Aliyev stood to the right of President Erdoğan, while Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif stood to his left.
With the taking of the family photo, the COP29 World Leaders Climate Action Summit was officially opened.
