Counter-terrorism operation in 12 provinces: 76 caves destroyed

In the "Gürz-5" operations conducted against the separatist terrorist organization (BTÖ) across 12 provinces, 76 caves, shelters, and hideouts were destroyed.

According to a statement made by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on his social media account, 76 caves, shelters, and hideouts were destroyed in operations carried out in 12 provinces aimed at eliminating various weapons, ammunition, and explosives that members of the BTÖ had hidden in caves and shelters to carry out attacks in rural areas during the summer months.

The operations were conducted by the Provincial Gendarmerie Commands of Şırnak, Hakkari, Kars, Siirt, Van, Diyarbakır, Erzincan, Bitlis, Muş, Tokat, Hatay, and Tunceli, under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command's Counter-Terrorism Department and Intelligence Department. Supported by 315 teams consisting of Gendarmerie Special Operations (JÖH), Gendarmerie Commandos, and Security Guards, as well as 3,996 gendarmerie personnel and J-SİHA and ATAK helicopters, the operations resulted in the seizure of 102 missiles, 132 mortar and grenade launcher rounds, 191 RPG-7 rocket launcher rounds and propellant charges, 2,604 detonators, 165 hand grenades, 22 improvised explosive devices and mechanisms, 55 anti-aircraft machine gun rounds, 2 tons and 156 kilograms of supplies, 8,237 rounds of ammunition, and a large number of weapons and explosives.
