Counter-terrorism operation in Şırnak: Cave used as ammunition depot destroyed

A cave used as an ammunition depot by the separatist terrorist organization was destroyed during the "Gürz-12" operation launched by the gendarmerie in the rural areas of Mount Cudi in Şırnak.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated in a post on his social media account that the "Gürz-12" operation was carried out in the rural areas of Mount Cudi in Şırnak, coordinated by the Gendarmerie General Command Intelligence Department and the Counter-Terrorism (TEM) Department, and conducted by the Şırnak Provincial Gendarmerie Command with the participation of Gendarmerie Special Operations (JÖH), Gendarmerie Commandos, and security guards.

Minister Yerlikaya noted that a cave used by terrorists as an ammunition depot was identified during the operation, and that the cave, where 753 hand grenades, 1,000 hand grenade fuses, 2,000 electric detonators, 11 AK-47 infantry rifles, 5 Dragunov sniper rifles, 3 RPG-7 rocket launchers, 2 PKM machine guns, a 60 mm mortar, 2 kilograms of explosives, and a large quantity of living supplies were seized, was destroyed.

In his post, Yerlikaya also included the following statements:

"The lairs prepared by the terrorist organization for logistical purposes and to carry out attacks were identified and demolished over their heads. I want our noble nation to know that we are conducting operations in cities and rural areas 365 days a year, in all 4 seasons, 12 months, day and night. Our fight against terrorism will continue with determination until the last terrorist is neutralized. I congratulate our heroic gendarmerie who carried out the operations. May God protect them. Our nation's prayers are with you."
