In the Malkara district of Tekirdağ, the gendarmerie detained 3 suspects identified as producing counterfeit alcohol. The Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams launched an operation following reports that M.Ç., H.B., and A.K. were keeping counterfeit alcohol in their homes.
During the search, 365 liters of counterfeit alcohol and a pump-action shotgun were seized. The processing of the detained suspects at the gendarmerie continues.
The number of deaths due to counterfeit alcohol had begun to rise before the new year, with many people hospitalized and losing their lives. Most recently, in Istanbul's Fatih district, a foreign national and father of 5, who fell ill shortly after consuming counterfeit alcohol he had purchased and was taken to the hospital, passed away shortly after being admitted to intensive care.
