Chief Advisor to the President Saadet Oruç had an argument with Mehmet Şerif Güran, one of the relatives of Narin Güran, in a chat room she joined on X.
Oruç had the argument in a chat room on the social media platform X with Mehmet Şerif Güran, a relative of Narin Güran, who was murdered last year at the age of 8 in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır.
When Mehmet Şerif Güran said, "Bitch. You were appointed there, I was elected," Oruç responded, "I have my limits; no one can call me a bitch. If I don't have Mehmet Şerif Güran taken in with reverse handcuffs tomorrow, then I am not Saadet."
Following the backlash, Chief Advisor to the President Saadet Oruç stepped back and apologized.
After the incident received widespread public attention, Saadet Oruç made the following statement:
"For the last year, I have felt responsible as a mother and a citizen to shed light on the Narin Güran murder and to find the killers of an innocent child. The murder of a tiny child falls on my heart like a burning coal every night! Because of this responsible and conscientious stance, dozens of slanders and insults have been directed at me for about 6 months, and I have displayed an attitude of seeking my rights patiently and before the law against these unlawful and unfair accusations until today. On the anniversary of Narin's murder, I shared an X message that included the phrase 'the feudal lords who buried you at the bottom of that stream are already at the bottom of that stream.' A family member who took the phrase 'feudal lords who buried you at the bottom of the stream' personally used the words 'bitch, your lineage is unknown' toward me. Succumbing to my anger against the person who made these insults, I responded in another environment with an attitude that did not suit me. It was the breaking point of a process that has been continuing systematically for months and where I have been silently seeking my rights before the judiciary. I apologize to the entire public for my words that did not suit me. I will continue to apply to the judiciary against the insults, slanders, and threats that continue to be directed at me systematically. Respectfully."
CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FILED
Following these developments, Narin Güran's relative Mehmet Şerif Güran filed a criminal complaint against Saadet Oruç.
