Criminal complaint filed against Yusuf Tekin by the ADD

A criminal complaint has been filed against Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, who posed with the book "The True Owners of Kemalist Captivity."

The Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD) announced that it has filed a criminal complaint against Yusuf Tekin on charges of "violating the Constitution" and "misconduct in office."

In a written statement issued by the association, it was stated that Minister of National Education Tekin promoted the book titled "The True Owners of Kemalist Captivity," written by Ali Akbaş, who identifies himself as "anti-Kemalist and Shariaist," and posed for a photograph with the individual in question. The statement noted that this situation has sparked public debate.

The following statements were included in the ADD announcement:

"AKP Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin has promoted the rag titled 'The True Owners of Kemalist Captivity,' published as a book by an insolent person named Ali Akbaş, who identifies himself as 'anti-Kemalist and Shariaist,' and saw no issue in posing for a photograph with said rag alongside another registered enemy of Atatürk and the Secular Republic named Fırat İsmail. Since this grave situation was carried out by the Minister of National Education, to whom the education of our youth is entrusted, it has revealed a violation of secularism, one of the fundamental characteristics of our state as established by our Constitution, as well as a violation of the Basic Law on National Education."

In the remainder of its statement, the association announced that they have filed a criminal complaint with the request that a public lawsuit be opened against Minister Tekin.

"As the Atatürkist Thought Association, we present our criminal complaint, with the request for a public lawsuit to be filed against AKP Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin on the grounds that he has committed the crimes of 'Violating the Constitution' and 'Misconduct in Office,' to the attention and information of our press and our dear nation."
