The General Directorate of ASKİ, affiliated with the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB), has filed a criminal complaint against Turgut Altınok, the former Mayor of Keçiören and the ABB mayoral candidate in the March 31 Local Elections.
It was stated that the application was made due to a post Altınok shared on his social media account regarding Ankara's drinking water, which included the phrase, "Poison is flowing from the taps in Ankara." ASKİ argued that the post in question was of a nature that could create fear, panic, and anxiety among the public.
In its application, ASKİ leveled accusations against Altınok for "inciting the public to fear, panic, and anxiety," "publicly spreading false information," and "disinformation."
The institution reported that the drinking water supplied to the network in Ankara is regularly analyzed 24/7 under the supervision of the Ankara Provincial Health Directorate of the Ministry of Health and in ASKİ laboratories. It was also emphasized that the analysis results are shared with the public every month.
ASKİ emphasized that the statements in Altınok's post do not align with scientific data or official analysis results, and therefore, they are misleading to the public.
