Critical appointments in the TAF following the Supreme Military Council: Alper Gezeravcı's new role announced

Following the decisions of the Supreme Military Council (YAŞ), the new duty stations for generals and colonels in the Turkish Armed Forces have been determined. Within the scope of the decision published with the signature of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, numerous appointments were made in the Land, Air, and Naval Forces, as well as the Gendarmerie General Command and the Coast Guard Command.

While 7 generals and 18 colonels in the Gendarmerie General Command were promoted to the next rank effective August 30, the duty stations of a total of 78 generals and colonels were changed.

A NEW ERA IN ARMY COMMANDS

Air Training Commander General Erdoğan Gür has been appointed as the Commander of Combat Air Forces.

2nd Army Commander Lieutenant General Zorlu Topaloğlu has been appointed as the Aegean Army Commander, while Lieutenant General Gültekin Yaralı has assumed the role of 2nd Army Commander. Lieutenant General Burhan Aktaş has been appointed as the 3rd Army Commander.

Turkish Peace Forces Commander in Cyprus, Lieutenant General Sebahattin Kılıç, has been placed at the disposal of the General Staff, and 7th Corps Commander Lieutenant General Ertan İnaltekin has been appointed to this position.

Major General İsmail Özcan has been appointed as the General Staff Intelligence Chief, while Vice Admiral Mustafa Kaya has assumed the role of Deputy Navy Commander.

GEZERAVCI BECOMES 5TH MAIN JET BASE COMMANDER

The new role of Turkey's first astronaut, Brigadier General Alper Gezeravcı, has also been announced. Gezeravcı has been appointed as the 5th Main Jet Base Commander.

Armağan Özel, one of the first two female colonels promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the Land and Air Forces, has been appointed as the Head of the Army Aviation Department. Brigadier General Özlem Karapınar has assumed the role of Chief of Staff for the Air Training Command.

CHANGES IN GENDARMERIE AND COAST GUARD

Decisions regarding promotions and appointments in the Gendarmerie General Command and the Coast Guard Command were also published in the Official Gazette.

Gendarmerie General Command Deputy Commanders General Hüseyin Kurtoğlu and Lieutenant General Münir Güzel have been placed at the disposal of the Gendarmerie General Command, while Lieutenant Generals Ünsal Bulut and Murat Bulut have been appointed as Gendarmerie General Command Deputy Commanders.

Comprehensive changes were also made in provincial gendarmerie commands. Bursa Provincial Gendarmerie Commander İdris Tataroğlu was appointed to Istanbul, Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Tarık Hekimoğlu to Ankara, and Gaziantep Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Halil Şen to Izmir.

Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Lieutenant General Yusuf Kenan Topcu was appointed as the Van Gendarmerie Public Order Corps Commander, while Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Cengiz Yıldız was appointed as the Erzurum Provincial Gendarmerie Commander. Izmir Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Metin Düz assumed the role of Head of Public Order.

It was decided that Cengiz Fitoz, who was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral, would continue his duty as Deputy Coast Guard Commander.

Other duty changes within the Gendarmerie General Command were also determined within the scope of the decision.
