The Presidential Candidate Office (CAO) Executive Board Meeting, held under the chairmanship of Özgür Özel, who was removed from office following the decision of absolute nullity, has begun at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Following the meeting, Özel is expected to hold group meetings with CHP members of parliament.
ROADMAP ON THE TABLE
Özel, who held the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting yesterday, met with the members of the CAO Executive Board today. It was stated that the political and organizational processes to be followed after the decision of absolute nullity would be discussed at the meeting, which began at 09:45.
SIGNATURE PROCESS FOR EXTRAORDINARY CONVENTION BEGINS
Özel and his team are also expected to begin collecting delegate signatures today in order to convene an extraordinary convention with elections.
According to the CHP bylaws, the support of an absolute majority of convention delegates is required for an extraordinary convention to be held.
568 DELEGATE SIGNATURES REQUIRED
While there are 1,134 registered convention delegates in the party, at least 568 delegates must provide their signatures for the decision to hold an extraordinary convention to be taken. There is a requirement that the signatures be collected within 15 business days.
WILL MEET WITH MPS INDIVIDUALLY
It has been learned that following the CAO Executive Board meeting, Özgür Özel will hold meetings with CHP members of parliament in groups.
While it is stated that MPs who have announced their support for the decision of absolute nullity will not attend these meetings, the contacts to be made are expected to be influential in determining the party leadership's next steps.
SIX MORE NAMES ADDED TO THE MYK
According to information obtained, Özgür Özel, along with the MYK meeting held yesterday, has included six more names who have previously served in the MYK and currently serve as Policy Board Chairs in the Presidential Candidate Office in the work of the MYK.
