Cübbeli Ahmet, who was attacked, makes ISIS claim

Speaking after being punched in an attack in Küçükçekmece, Cübbeli Ahmet claimed he was a target.

Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, known to the public as Cübbeli Ahmet, attended a talk program held at an association in Küçükçekmece.

Cübbeli Ahmet was punched by an individual who approached him as he was leaving the association.


The attacker, identified as A.A., was neutralized by the intervention of those nearby and was taken into custody by the police.

While the incident was captured on a mobile phone camera, the following statement was made regarding the event on Cübbeli Ahmet's social media account:

"After Cübbeli Ahmet Hoca gave a talk at an association in the İkitelli area, he was attacked by someone in the dark who grabbed him by the throat and attempted to assault him while shouting obscene profanities as a crowd of followers were asking for prayers. The Hocaefendi was rescued through immediate intervention by his bodyguards. The individual was apprehended by police teams present at the scene, and an investigation has been launched."

HE HELD ISIS RESPONSIBLE

Connecting to a CNN TÜRK broadcast following the attempted attack, Ünlü said:

"It was known that we had been receiving threats regarding ISIS. About 10 years ago, our state assigned us protection. It has continued until today. About 2 months ago, that news printout was sent to us again by some officials from the police department via ISIS's Telegram sites. They had put a gun [in the image] and said, 'Kill them wherever you find them.' Of course, we did not share these; yesterday, our security team members with me received a warning from the directorates again.

I had been invited to a talk in the İkitelli area. People gathered and were greeting me. In the meantime, someone lunged at my throat. Our security brother intervened. He squeezed my right side a little. I couldn't make out his face; that's when they intervened. My hand was slightly injured.

Other than that, the main issue is that we are a target for ISIS here. We don't know what might come out of this. We will be informed according to the information to be provided by official authorities. This was a small place."
