Cüneyt Özdemir reacts to Dilan Polat’s ‘Meral Akşener’ response: 'A tremendous challenge...'

Journalist Cüneyt Özdemir has reacted to comments made on social media by Dilan Polat, who was detained alongside her husband on charges including money laundering and tax evasion, directed at İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener.

Dilan Polat and Engin Polat, a couple who have been in the spotlight for their luxurious lifestyle and are under investigation for allegations of money laundering and tax evasion, were detained in an operation carried out during the night.

İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener, in a speech at her party's group meeting, made a reference to Dilan Polat, who was detained along with her husband, and a response to Meral Akşener was posted on Dilan Polat's social media account.

Journalist Cüneyt Özdemir reacted to the post made on the social media account of the detained Polat directed at Akşener.

“WE HAVE DONE MORE FOR THIS NATION THAN SHE HAS”

The post on the detained Polat's social media account stated, "Ms. Meral has identified us as the cause of poverty without even listening to us. How can she engage in this discrimination while claiming to lead Turkey? Is there any citizen who has a complaint about us? I claim that we have done more for this nation than she has; we have helped the needy. We donate to our people, we don't become MPs through donations. She should not use us as a tool for politics and attacking the government. We are almost becoming pawns of the opposition media and the opposition's politics with the government."

"A TREMENDOUS CHALLENGE..."

Cüneyt Özdemir, quoting this post by Dilan Polat, stated that he did not expect this much and said, "A tremendous challenge… There is not a shred of retreat from this arrogant attitude that spits on and challenges the police, the prosecutor's office, and all of Turkey. I really did not expect this much. Dilan Polat is in custody, but those managing her account continue to lecture even politicians!"

 

WHAT DID MERAL AKŞENER SAY?

İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener had made a reference to the couple Dilan Polat and Engin Polat in her speech at her party's group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Akşener said the following:

"In this country, no matter what is done, people are not disgraced. May God grant us the opportunity to disgrace these thieves, these corrupt people, and these immoral people, I hope. The money they stole, the immoral acts they committed. Oh great God, I know it will not go unpunished. I know it will affect their children and families. But this is the situation that those who govern Turkey with this mindset have brought the country to.

Our children have each turned into a Dilan Polat, each turned into an Engin Polat type... On the other side, there are children whose stomachs are growling, children finding insects and worms in their food in KYK dormitories, children who cannot eat because the food has run out. These things touch the wrath of God. God will make them pay for it, and He will ruin those who cause this. My God, grant us the opportunity to take this forbidden bread from their throats, my God."
