Özdemir characterized the jokes comedian Deniz Göktaş made about him regarding "drugs" as "harsh and baseless accusations."
Noting that he watched Göktaş while taking a break in Santa Barbara during a trip in the US, Özdemir said, "He said, 'Well, this Cüneyt and Kenan are inviting me.' He said, 'I'm not going.' He said, 'How am I going to go there now?' He said, 'He's already high on drugs, Cüneyt is constantly laughing.' He then made a comment like, 'Cut back on it a bit.' We were shocked while listening to this in the car on the road... Kenan and I looked at each other and wondered, 'Did we hear that right?' The joke isn't exactly one you can just laugh off. Kenan even said, 'My God, wasn't that a bit harsh?' We have no connection to drugs," he stated.
"My lawyer friend said, 'Let's file a lawsuit immediately if you want'"
Özdemir continued, "When I first started shooting videos on YouTube, when I laughed, people would say, 'What is he on?' There's a song called 'Esrarında Harman Oldum' [I'm high on your cannabis], they would put that in. They would say things like, 'The man has gone crazy.' But we don't expect something like this from Deniz, neither Kenan nor I. Kenan even called a few of his friends from Tuz Biber. 'Isn't this a bit harsh, brother? Such operations are happening in Turkey, people get into trouble with a single tip-off, and you go and say something like this just like that.' Our lawyer friend called and said, 'This is 100 percent punishable. Let's file a lawsuit immediately if you want.' I said, 'Hold on.' Kenan and I said, 'Let's just wait, there's no need to call anyone, let it go,'" he said.
"I wonder what Deniz is using"
Özdemir continued his remarks: "We would say that if people's minds immediately go to drugs when someone laughs... Because he makes people laugh so much with the jokes he makes. If our minds are getting to this state, one wonders what Deniz is using. What are you using to produce these jokes? These can't be coming out easily. Now, just because we laughed twice there, he immediately calls us something... We thought, 'Who knows what you are using' here. Anyway, we won't be filing a lawsuit, of course."
