'Dabbe' becomes reality! Rumors of 'three-lettered ones' lead to village evacuation

Kışla Village, located in the Şarkışla district of Sivas, was abandoned by its residents 15 years ago following rumors that jinn had settled in the village.

IT BECAME KNOWN AS THE JINN VILLAGE

The village, which was home to 20 households 15 years ago, became known as the "jinn village." Five years ago, the Gültekin family moved into the village. The family, who have been living in the village for 5 years without paying attention to the rumors, does not believe the claims are true. The abandoned houses in the village have turned into ruins due to neglect and lack of maintenance.

"WE HAVEN'T SEEN ANY JINN IN FIVE YEARS"

Tülay Gültekin, who has been living in the village with her family for five years, stated that she does not believe the rumors, saying, “This place has been empty for 10 or 15 years; I don't know why the village was abandoned. They scare people by saying this village is haunted by jinn. Actually, there is no such thing. I have been living here for 5 years, and I have seen nothing related to those rumors.”

"THE VILLAGE HAS BECOME A ROAD"

Mehmet Bardak, a tradesman in Şarkışla, stated that the rumors about the village persist, saying, “I live in the Şarkışla district, and I pass by here often. In the past, 20 households lived here; they all abandoned this place. Since it is now completely empty, it is disappearing as a ruin. The rumors circulating among the public continue. The road passing by the village connects to the Pınarbaşı district of Kayseri. No one comes or goes here; the village has been completely left to become a road” he said.
