Damage assessment work completed: The toll of the Balıkesir Sındırgı earthquake has become clear

Following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir, damage assessment studies have been completed, revealing that 1,036 independent units in 729 buildings across Balıkesir and Manisa are heavily damaged or destroyed. Citizens will be able to check the lists at neighborhood headman offices (muhtarlık), and appeals can be made at the AFAD application center.

Damage assessment studies initiated following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir on August 10 have been completed. All homes were examined one by one in inspections carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and AFAD.

HEAVY DAMAGE DETECTED IN 729 BUILDINGS

According to the statement made, it was determined that a total of 1,036 independent units located in 729 buildings across Balıkesir and Manisa are in a heavily damaged or destroyed state.

LISTS HAVE BEEN POSTED

The damage assessment lists prepared as a result of the studies have been made available to citizens at neighborhood headman offices. Homeowners and tenants will be able to check the status of their buildings from these lists.

APPEAL PROCESS HAS BEGUN

An AFAD application center has been established at the Sındırgı Government House for those who wish to file an objection regarding the damage assessment. The objections made will be evaluated by a higher board. After the one-month suspension period is completed, the damage status of the buildings will be finalized.

CALL FROM THE HEADMAN

Kurtuluş Neighborhood Headman Ramazan Sabay made a call to the citizens, stating, "I request all our fellow citizens affected by the earthquake to check the lists and confirm the findings. If they think there is a deficiency or error, they should definitely file an objection."

DEMOLITION PROCESS BEGINS

On the other hand, it was learned that demolition work on heavily damaged and destroyed buildings in the region will begin shortly.
