Airports in Syria's capital, Damascus, and its second-largest city, Aleppo, have reopened for flights for "specially authorized aircraft."
The airport in Aleppo was closed to flights on November 28, while the airport in Damascus was closed on December 8, the day Assad left the country.
According to NOTAM messages distributed by flight officials in Syria, it was announced that only "specially authorized flights" would use the airport.
The message stated, "All flights to and from the airport have been suspended, except for flights under special permits from the civil aviation authority." The restriction period was set from 20:00 on December 12 to 15:00 on December 18 (GMT).
