It has been learned that Turkey's Embassy in Damascus will reopen following the fall of the Assad government in Syria.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that the Embassy, which suspended its operations 12 years ago, will resume activities starting this weekend (Saturday).
Fidan stated that Burhan Köroğlu, who has been appointed as the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Turkish Embassy in Damascus, and his team have set off for Damascus.
The Turkish Embassy, located near Rawda Square where diplomatic missions are concentrated in Damascus, continued to serve for a period during the process when the regime resorted to violence against peaceful protesters, but suspended its operations on March 26, 2012.
