Date for 'elective convention' in CHP comes from Gürsel Tekin: Kılıçdaroğlu had said 'the most appropriate time'

It was stated that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who became the CHP Chairman again following the 'absolute nullity' decision issued by the court, gave his approval for a convention during a phone call with Özgür Özel. The statement regarding the date of said convention came from Gürsel Tekin.

Following the court's 'absolute nullity' decision regarding the 2023 convention where a change in chairmanship took place in the Republican People's Party (CHP), the previous CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was declared 'chairman' once again.

Özgür Özel, the chairman elected by the delegates in the CHP, met with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu yesterday and stated that he asked him to take the party to a convention quickly.

It is alleged that Kılıçdaroğlu said he would take the party to a convention at 'the most appropriate time'.

The 'most appropriate time' was announced by Gürsel Tekin, a former MP and a name close to Kılıçdaroğlu, who was appointed as a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency.

Gürsel Tekin, a name close to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu—who was appointed as a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency and brought back to the CHP Chairmanship on paper by the absolute nullity decision—told Sözcü that the party would go to an elective convention in 7 months.

The duty of Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee to the Istanbul Provincial Presidency following the cancellation of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Congress, had ended after the absolute nullity decision.
